We are constantly renting our items here in the shop for commercials, t.v. shows and movie sets. We recently lent out our Paris Lounger for an ad for Rolex featuring the lovely, talented, and local Diana Krall.

Here’s the lucky lounge that spent the day with Diana:

Thanks Diana, we WANT that watch!! And fabulous hair BTW…

We were delighted to participate at this year’s Interior Design Show West. All the hard work paid off because it was a great success on all fronts. We got to meet our loyal customers, new customers, other vendors and fabulous guest speakers.
Below are some of the photos we took of our process of setting up as well as the beautiful end results of both our booth and the Media Lounge.
Thank you for all those that came to see us and we look forward to the show next year!

Here are the first photos of The Cross booth at IDSWest

We have had a fabulous time at the show, with so much positive feedback, and kind comments from all of our lovely guests. Everyone is loving our new ‘tote’ bag that we designed exclusively for the event. We are also giving out buttons and other goodies, so if you are in the area please stop by and say hello!
Don’t miss the MEDIA LOUNGE that we also designed for the IDSWest show. We are proud to say that Lynda Reeves, publisher of Canadian House and Home Magazine will be hosting an event in our lounge before she speaks about trends on the main stage on Saturday at 1:00pm. Here’s a look at our stunning lounge

The show wraps up at 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 20th. Looking forward to seeing you all in our booth {#506}!

During our most recent buying trip in New York, we were fortunate enough to have a late-night private tour of John Derian’s workshop. The workshop is a treasure trove of inspiration for the pretty and painstakingly detailed decoupaged plates that John Derian now sells internationally, including esteemed shops as Liberty of London and Astier de Villate in Paris.

Julie (right hand gal) lead us through the aisles of work desks, each piled high with glass plates, antique papers, cutouts, inspirational ideas and quirky chatchkas, all the while explaining how each individual works in the close quartered environment. We were in awe of the creative and humble space where we could only imagine each employee hunched over their desk layering beautiful images under the close watch of John’s discerning eye. We truly left with a much deeper appreciation of each lovely plate that now proudly hangs in our shop, they are all a labour of love.

Be sure to look for the latest additions to the John Derian collection when you are at The Cross. The line has broadened to include, gift wrap, postcards, tissue paper, and compact mirrors. Another exciting addition is that artist, Hugo Guiness, who until this time has been sold exclusively at John’s NY store , will now be selling his charming framed linoleum cut prints. We expect our delivery to arrive in store in November! Check out our latest collection here

After our informative tour Julie, Darci and I dined among the young and noisy hipsters at Freeman’s Restaurant in the Bowery district, conveniently located just a hop, skip and a jump from JD’s studio. Dinner was delicious, and the dessert rivaled the eye candy in the room. With our fill of comforting peach pie, gooey chocolate brownie, and many Marc Jacobs lookalikes we left…smiling and satiated.
