My babies never left home without their Beba Bean hoodies. This hoodie is an absolute essential in every baby’s wardrobe. I used mine year round, as an extra layer in the winter months and as a cozy sweater when the sun goes down in the summer months. I loved the ivory colour for my son, but let me tell you as soon as Emmie was born I couldn’t wait to buy the pink one~even though the hand-me-down was still in perfect condition! We sell several of these hoodies every day at The Cross, usually with the adorable matching knitted pants, and often paired with Mary Janes, Desert Booties, or a ruffled dress or two…
HUDSON~

EMERSON~

Beba Bean is a Vancouver based company and the designer and owner Lisa has this to say about her collection:
“I spent a summer in Cape Cod as a child. I can remember being engrossed in the laid back elegance the locals evoked. This Cape Cod inspired hoodie features classic wood toggle buttons, raglan sleeves and knit lined hood that expresses simple sophistication.”
The keepsake knit hoodies, hats, blankets and onesies are so soft, durable and are designed with the details in mind:
Made from the softest “non itch” cotton, our line of knit wear is inspired with vintage wooden toggles and delicate pearl knit stitch trim. It’s all about details.
100% cotton knit lined hoodie
Wood toggle buttons
Machine wash
Sized 0–3, 3–6, 6–12, and 12–18 months
Love you Beba Bean!

In our first installment of all things baby we are featuring the delightful work of Canadian artist Lori-Joy Smith.
Lori-Joy modestly says on her blog “I’m an artist and illustrator and mother of 2 young girls, living in Charlottetown, P.E.I.“ Yes, absolutely she is all of those things and she is also a lovely and beautiful girl with a gentle soul. Her paintings are beyond charming (and customizable!) and her candid
blog posts tell the tale of a busy and caring mom, who desperately finds the time to fuel her passion and create the art that she loves.
I couldn’t resist purchasing 12 of her paintings for Hudson’s room soon after he was born. Lori-Joy happily worked within my colour specifications of blue, orange, green and brown (the colours of his favourite sock monkey). Here are a few of the adorable paintings that she came up with:

And here is Hudson perusing his first art collection at age 4 months:

And here is a final shot of the room with the wonderful paintings that are the feature of the space.

Thank-You Lori-Joy, you are a delight to work with and a wonderfully talented artist and mom!
Be sure to check out Lori-Joy’s charming website and blog. And the next time you visit The Cross we would love to show you more of Lori-Joy’s work! Just ask us for more details…

I stopped in my tracks in the grocery aisle when I laid eyes on this cover. Something about the colour palette made me weak in the knees, those white-washed floors and walls, the slouchy slipcovers, soft baby pink chair, worn tattered rug and refined details all add up to perfection. This ‘Modern Scandanavian beach house’ is my idea of the perfect getaway, relaxed enough to be beachy, yet layered enough to be cozy on stay-indoors days. Here is the rest of the interior:

Homeowners Harriet Maxwell Macdonald and Andrew Corrie own Ochre a fabulous contemporary furniture store with three envious locations: London, Paris and New York. I can’t wait to visit one of these shops in person!
